FOLILA
RHYTHM CATALOG
The rhythmcatalog
is meant for everyone who is inte-
rested
in West-African
percussion, likes to notate
rhythms and wants
to share his or her
writings with
others.
Of course it is well
known that a lot of
people have objections
writing down
traditional
rhythms and showing
them in public. It
is there good
right.
Notating a rhythm means
producing an image of
the actual
music. However this
image can be very
valuable.
For more information
on the arguments
against rhythm
notation
you can go into the archives
of Djembe-l
.
By e-mail you can
send comments to the rhythms
notated.In fact
FOLILA wants to encourage you to
send comments
and will include them
in the catalog as
long you have no
objection
that your name and e-mail
adress will be
mentioned next
to them. By this
FOLILA
wants to act as a registration platform
with
respect to west-african
percussion rhythm's.
However, it is
important to keep discussions about
the
truth-factor
of the notated rhythm's going.
These discussions
should take place elsewhere, for
example
on Djembe-l.
Last but not least
: if someone thinks his or her
copyright is violated
please contact FOLILA :
